Long before Steamboat became one of North America's premier ski destinations, it was a small mountain town built on vision, hard work, and an unwavering love for skiing. Stamped In Time celebrates those early days—before luxury resorts and high-speed lifts—when a single chairlift, a warming hut, and endless powder were enough to build a legacy.

At the heart of the piece is a handcrafted recreation of a vintage Mt. Werner lift ticket, honoring the mountain's beginnings as Storm Mountain Ski Area in 1963 before being renamed after hometown Olympic legend Buddy Werner just two years later.

Built from reclaimed wood, a weathered "Ski Steamboat" background, and authentic mixed-media materials, every layer tells part of the story. The distressed surfaces reflect decades of powder days, family traditions, and memories passed from one generation to the next.

A repurposed Colorado craft beer can becomes the rope pass-through—a subtle nod to Colorado's culture of craftsmanship and creativity—while the frame is handcrafted from locally sourced beetle-kill pine, preserving the character and history of one of Colorado's most recognizable natural materials.

In the era this lift ticket represents, tickets were stamped for a single day on the mountain. The M26 featured on this piece quietly commemorates March 26—the day Steak & Whiskey was founded—a personal detail woven into the artwork without distracting from Steamboat's story.

Created from memories of skiing Steamboat since childhood, Stamped In Time is a tribute to the mountain, the people, and the traditions that continue to define Routt County. It was created for those whose hearts never really leave Steamboat.
